Rolling bearings can be further classified according to the direction in which the load isapplied; radial bearings carry radial loads and thrust bearings carry axial loads.
Other classification methods include: 1) number of rolling rows (single, multiple, or 4-row), 2) separable and non-separable, in which either the inner ring or the outer ring can be detached, 3) thrust bearings which can carry axial loads in only one direction, and double direction thrust bearings which can carry loads in both directions.
There are also bearings designed for specialapplications, such as: railway car journal roller bearings (RCT bearings), ball screw support bearings, turntable bearings, as well as rectilinear motion bearings (linear ball bearings, linear roller bearings and linear flat roller bearings).
According to the demand of the machine, several types of bearings are introduced. These nsk bearings serve different purposes and are shaped differently. Two of the main types, differentiated according to the load that they can withstand, are:
1. Axial bearing: Manage axial force
2. Radial bearing: Support radial machine
Further, these types of bearings can be classified into sub categories as discussed below:
Ball bearing: Usually used for machines that need to drive small load, ball bearings can support both types of loads mentioned above. It is the most common type of bearing, since it works very smoothly and effectively. There are three main types of bearings that fall under the category of ball bearing:
Deep groove: They are made with great accuracy and capacity
Angular contact: Used with another bearing, it can produce perfect results
Self aligning: They have great tolerance against misalignment
Roller Bearing: Since the cylindrical shaped bearing is designed to have a line contact with the load, a roller bearing can support a heavy load. However, they fall under the radial class.
Ball thrust bearing: They are used for machines which run at a slow speed and need to support an axial load. They cannot support radial thrust
Roller thrust bearing: Withstanding thrust load, a roller thrust bearing is used mainly for gearing purposes.
Tapered Roller Bearings: They have high tensile strength and hence can support huge load.
The above mentioned types of ntn bearings are just a few of the many kinds available in the market. It all comes down to your demand and purpose and the type of load you want your machine to drive.
There are numerous different kinds of bearings that are designed to handle radial load, thrust load, or some combination of the two. Because different applications require bearings that are designed to handle a specific kind of load and different amounts of weight, the differences between types of bearings concern load type and ability to handle weight.
Ball bearings are typically capable of dealing with two kinds of loading condition; radial load and thrust load. Depending on the type of application the bearing is used in, it may experience radial load only, thrust load only or a combination of both. A classic example being the car wheel as shown below.
There are many [bearings types] , each used for different purposes either singularly or in combinations. These include ball bearings, roller bearings, ball thrust bearings, roller thrust bearings and tapered roller thrust bearings.
